God's Plan of Salvation
God's Plan of Salvation
In His love and mercy, God has provided a way by which you can escape the judgment He is about to bring upon the world, if you choose too.
God wants so much to have a personal relationship with you that He sent Jesus, His only Son, to shed His blood, die on the cross, and then be raised from the dead. He did all that so that you can be set free from the bondage of sin and the fear of death, and enter into eternal life.
Recognize That You Are A Sinner in Need of Salvation
Salvation takes place when a person listens to the salvation message, acknowledges their need for a savior, and makes a decision to receive Jesus into his or her heart.
Believe God and Receive Christ by Grace Through Faith
If you would like to receive and trust Christ as your personal Savior, you only need to express your faith in Christ by a simple prayer acknowledging your sinfulness, asking Him to take over your life and indwell you through the Holy Spirit, accepting His forgiveness and putting your faith in Christ for your salvation.
I know I am a sinner. I pray that you will forgive me for all of my sins, that you will come into my heart and be my Lord, the savior of my life. I confess that you died on the cross to save me from my sins and I am committed to turning away from those sins. I ask that you fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can be born again. I ask that you give me the strength and abundant faith to overcome any and all attacks by the enemy, including my desire to sin so that I may serve you completely. I pray that you will give me discernment so that I may know all things that are truth, and the knowledge acquired from reading your Word. Use me this day as I am a willing vessel Lord, in leading others to your kingdom. Wash me as white as snow. Put a hedge of protection around me as I go forth in doing your will. Thank you Jesus for saving me, as I know that only through my faith in you that all this is possible. Amen!
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."~Revelation 3:20
Repent and Become a New Creation in Christ by Grace
Repentance is the step overlooked by many "Christians" today, particularly those attending apostate churches, whose numbers are increasing rapidly, just as Jesus said they would in the last days.
Turning to follow Christ also means turning away for sin. It means living in accordance with God's laws and standards of morality, it does not give you license to continue willfully and deliberately living a sinful lifestyle.
The decision to follow Christ must include a sincere desire for Him to come live inside you through the Holy Spirit. Once you are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, He will cause you to hate sin as God does and turn away from it.
The Bible makes it clear that a true Christian will not live "any way he wants to". Christians are new creations; "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."~2 Corinthians 5:17
Or, from the Amplified Bible, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]."~2 Corinthians 5:17*
First John 3:6-9 clearly states that a true Christian will not live in continual sin. "No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
In response to the accusation that grace promotes sin, the apostle Paul declared, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?"~Romans 6:1-2
For the truly converted, continuing to live sinfully is not an option. Because our conversion resulted in a completely new nature, our desire is to no longer live in sin. Yes, we still sin occasionally, but we don't habitually live in sin. Instead of wallowing in it as we once did, we now hate it and wish to be delivered from it. The idea of "taking advantage" of Christ's sacrifice on our behalf by willfully continuing to live sinfully is unthinkable. Christians do not obey God's laws in order to get saved, we obey God's laws because we are saved. If a person believes himself to be a Christian and still desires to live the old, sinful life, he has reason to doubt his salvation.
"Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you-unless indeed you fail the test?"~2 Corinthians 13:5
How could anyone who understands God's unconditional and guaranteed love for those who believe, take that love and throw it back in God's face? Such a person is demonstrating not that eternal security has given him a license to sin, but rather that he or she has not truly experienced salvation through Jesus Christ.
When you pray to receive Christ as your savior, empty words will not cut it. God knows what is in your heart. You must have a sincere desire to give your life over to Christ and live for him rather than yourself. Those who claim to be Christians but who continue in a sinful lifestyle are living for themselves.
"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."~John 14:15
"Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent."~Revelation 3:19
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'"~Matthew 7:21-23
If you willfully and deliberately continue in a lifestyle that is an affront to God, you have have good reason to question your salvation.
